To realise one's destiny is a person's only obligation.
If you take a moment to think about books in general, or if you think back to a memory that included a book or reading or trying to find a book the main thing you think within that moment is where does this book belong? Where can I find that book?
You are probably wondering where I am going with this but just wait and you'll see.
I think it is very obvious and we can all agree on the fact that all books belong to a category.
Well that was before The Alchemist.
Whenever I start these reviews off I normally place the book into its category and give it a rating out of 10, sometimes it gets one rating just as book sometimes it get two ratings; one as a book in general and how much I liked it and one as a book for specific content and how it can affect your life.
Once again that was before The Alchemist.
Now I know that this is only my second book of the year but trust me this was not my first rodeo with books. I have been reading since before I even started school and I have read every genre, given them all a go at least once. I know what I like and what I don't like. I know what section you will find me in the most and I know what section to stay clear of no matter how enticing the covers are or the reviews.
Then there was The Alchemist.
Being a reader, I was obviously fully aware of The Alchemist, they hype that surrounded it, the people who love it, the people who hated it and of course all the people that went so hard on analysing the text that it almost became a job for them. Now I have always listened to the hype surrounding books but I have never personally let that affect whether I will read it or not and if you do you are silly.
So without any further nonsense let's get straight into the review.
The Alchemist
I opened the book and the first thing I thought to myself was oh simple. It was written simple there was no chapters or titles. The book came in part one and part two however mainly it was just part two as that was majority of the book. It used section breaks like there were running out of fashion and I decide that I would use those as my indicators when reading and knowing where to stop.
However that was unnecessary because I sat down to read it and then 10 pages in I stopped telling myself it was an easy read, I will pick it back up tonight and finish it within the week. I didn't pick it back up though and it wasn't until the end of the month started looming near that I decided to pick it back up again.
It was this second time that I picked it back up and I did not put it back down again until I finished within an afternoon I read the book from cover to cover (pretty much) and it was within those words that I felt a million question pop into my brain and the questions that I had been asking myself I was now asking the universe.
I don't want to use this review to give to much away for the book, its more a recollection of what happened to me whilst reading and less of a individual book which I am sure if you have read the book you will understand and if you haven't read the book you will question well what's the point of this review that is not a review.
That is The Alchemist for you.
It makes you think, it makes you question, it helps you realise, it helps you understand, it could nearly be thought of as some interpretation tool for what exactly is going on in your life and it allows for you to gain some insight and knowledge about how best to handle certain situations.
When reading there are so many lessons, paths, journeys, reasons and explanations that you come across that I personally feel no matter what stage of your life you are in or what journey you are taking there will always be information that you can gather from this book.
There will always be a lesson to be learnt.
There will always be a journey to partake.
There will always be a heart that needs to be heard.
It is with those last thoughts that I create this review.
I also hope that if you are trying to listen to your heart, or your heart is trying to tlak to you but you can not understand what it is saying, pick up a copy of The Alchemist it will help you to understand your own heart. It will interpret your journey.
