Just like that we are past study week and we are smashing straight back into it.
I normally associated week 8 with a Wednesday. It is the Wednesday of the session or it’s the hump week.
We are so close to getting there with our session but yet we are so far away.
It’s the god damn hump week of session 1
Let’s be quick here though, I already know that you are reading this to procrastinate your study so I am going to smash straight into my top tips for hump week.
Have a rest.
I am sure that you were not thinking that I was going to say this straight of the bat. But take a rest even if it just for an hour (should be no longer then a day) and get your mind right for these next few weeks. We are heading into exam time and you need to be ready.
Prep, prep and prep.
We are getting to the last few hurdles here and you need to be ready. Whether you have exams coming up or just some big assessments you need to be ready to smash them out. So take a little time this week and prep your study so that you are ready.
Check your marks.
Take a quick little 5 minute look this week and check your mark or your standing in class so that you know where you are at. No matter if you need to complete an assessment or you have exam it’s always nice to know why mark you are after for your final assessment.
Catch up on your lectures.
If have not already listened to all of your lectures catch up on them this week coming. Or at the very least just watch the lectures that are relevant to your assessments or exams. This is mainly so you have all the information that is available to you.
Mentally prepare.
This one is something a little out of the box for me but if you struggle with exams and sitting down to take exams then try this little trick. Take a moment now to cement in your brain that you are sitting down to do an exam. Get ready. Visualise yourself in a classroom or lecture hall and take a moment to go through the feelings of anxiety or stress that you get before you open the exam paper. Let them have a moment in your brain and help yourself sort through those emotions, recognise and determine areas that you can fix to allow yourself to have the clearest mind possible for the upcoming exam. Knowing that you have these certain feelings towards exams I always think it is best to realise these emotions before you get into an exam and try to develop some strategies to address these emotions.
That will be all for this little hump week. I hope that at least one of these helps you even if in the long run with your exam prep. I will leave you with this quote and I will see you all next week.
