Violent shakes.
A baby cries.
The city behind you crumbles.
Heeeelllllooooo
This is a rude awakening you are having.
So without being too frantic and dramatic and scaring you all too much lets just tone it down a bit and head into week 2 right.
Hi, hello, here we are week 2.
For many of you this could be your first ever week 2 and I know it is scary and daunting and you really have no idea what the fuck is going on yet and then there is the rest of us who have had plenty of “week 2’s” and still have no idea what the fuck is going on. So the main thing is here it is pretty common in week 2 to literally have NO IDEA.
So no matter what session this is for you many of us are still in the same boat and that boat is named Captain Phuket (or fuck it, for us non fancies).
Anyways back to week 2 I wanted to give you guys some helpful tips to make sure you get the most out of week 2 or even week 3 (I see you) and help you guys keep on top of you studies.
So here we go!
Buy your books.
What the hell? Why haven’t you got your notebooks yet? That’s what you do all your writing in. (Unless you using a laptop then, go you!)
Buy your textbooks.
I know they are expansive and most of the time unnecessary however if you need it for the subject and you don’t want to spend most of your time at the library on a 2hr loan then your going to need to buy it. Highlight your due dates. What do you mean you don’t know your due dates?! Write it down in your books, in your diary, on your iPhone, tattoo it to the back of hand (maybe not that one, I did t actually support that) but for heavens sake at least look at your Unit Information Guide and know your due dates. You could have one coming up.
Get a diary.
Now I have preached and preached and preached this. But get a diary and use it. It will become your new best friend.
Listen to your lectures.
Now most of the first week are just introductions so if you are old (I don’t mean age I mean in experience, like me!(however I am also old)) then you can probably skip past those ones BUT if you are new you will want to sit down and have a good old listen to those ones they are going to show you were everything is.
Listen to your lectures.
I am going to say this one again because it took me a really long time to learn this one. But actually listen to your lectures. If you are studying online (like me!) then you need to set aside some time to actually listen to them and pay attention to what is going on. Maybe even write some notes down! (I swear that crumbling city is getting closer)
Use your friends you made.
Now I don’t mean this in a ‘use’ them way. I mean talk to them, get to know them. See what they are up to and what they have done. They are in the exact same boat as you so you most likely will both help each other out. My best friends still to this day was one of the lady’s that I met in my first week and said “hey, you wanna be friends” and we still are. Cliche I know, but true.
Now whether you are doing this on the Monday of the second week or the Sunday my main point that I am trying to make here is know when your assignments are due and what you need to do in order for them to get done by that due date!
Also remember that my email is always open as well if you ever feel the pressure or demand of Uni being to much. I will know exactly how you feel and most like what situation you are in. As I have been there before.
You can email me here ebonypratt8@gmail.com
But for your second week I am sending you nothing but strength and support and I just wanted to finish this off with a little quote.
